An explosion shatters the silence.
Skyscrapers shudder and fall,
like a spectacle, like a dream.
Bombs are falling from phantom planes.
The spotlights search in vain,
like a scavenger, like a child.
As the city center fell down, a wall of fire rose up from the ground.
Stinging shrapnel pierces the night.
Concrete and steel bend to the fires.
This dying city bathed in hell's light.
The conqueror never tires.
(The bombers keep coming)
As man sinks lower than low, flames jump higher with each salvo.
An avalanche of ash rushes through,
sweeping all in it's path,
like a pestilence, like a wave.
Roads are buckling, hopes erodes,
burnt forms, forever still,
like a monument, like despair.
As the city center fell down, a wall of fire rose up from the ground.
